Lebanese Youth: still hope for life

At 7, Khaled is hoping to a better life and future. He was dreaming to visit and explore the different places that his father kept telling him about every night.  But, his dreams has vanished because his father is no longer there, in 2006 an Israeli plane bombarded their village "Marwaheen" and killed his father while was on the run to provide his family with a piece of bread. Now Khaled has no support except from handouts, in order for him to have a better education and build a good future, he needs somebody to support him by offering a sponsorship.
Lebanese Relief has been working in Lebanon on different projects, especially orphan sponsorship and micro credit projects.
Lebanese Relief (LR) believes that every child and especially the orphans have the right to be clothed, nourished, live a healthy life and have access to a good education.

For you to Know

Asia has the largest
no. of orphans at
65 million

When a family loses the first line of support the father or in worst cases both parents, not only do they have to cope with the tragedy of losing someone very dear, but also the loss of  regular source of income, which provided them the basic requirements in life. Today there are millions of orphans around the world; they are amongst the most vulnerable in society as they do not have the same opportunities as other children. They are often forced into child labour in order to survive and miss out on a normal childhood. Needy orphans are usually deprived of food, clothing, sufficient healthcare and a good education. Perhaps the greatest tragedy of all is their lack of education.

Given the opportunity of going to school, these orphans could develop practical skills, which would enable their communities to break out of the cycle of poverty.

In addition to receiving the regular sponsorship payments, orphan families are assisted with school fees, and Eid clothes are provided for the orphans. Food parcels are given out during Ramadhan. Educational support is also provided for orphans who have difficulty learning at school. LR donors currently sponsor 5 orphans in the South of Lebanon.
Lebanese Relief’s donors are currently sponsoring orphans in Lebanon.Tailored to the needs of each orphan, Lebanese Relief’s Orphan Programmes provide children:
  • Health care including vaccinations
  • Basic necessities like food, shelter and clothing
  • Emotional support for traumatized children
  • Education and school equipment
  • Vocational training in practical skills such as information technology and languages
By sponsoring a child, you will be providing him or her with the basics that every child deserves – food, health care and education. If you cannot sponsor an orphan but would still like to help, you could donate to our orphans projects, through the Orphans General Fund.
